In my endeavour to make comics, I finally got around to start learning to draw people. I thought I'd share some of my progress, since the Knot of this World comic, and my progress as an artist, has been my major creative project for the past couple of months.
Day 1 was better than I expected it would be. I used to take art lessons when I was a pre-teen, so I guess a bit of that skill stuck around.
A few days later, I was very happy with my progress. I started watching some drawing lessons on YouTube, and learned a lot.
I tried drawing some black folks, because black lives matter!
I was rubbish at drawing hands, so I spent a day studying and drawing them. This was a good day, but I still need practise, because some of my recent hands have been much worse than these.
It was late, I wanted to sleep, and I was still rubbish at drawing feet (still am), so I made this nice lady into a snake lady :)
At this point, I decided to just start drawing Knot of this World. The purpose of that comic is to learn and grow as a comic artist and writer, and the best way to do that is by just doing it. It's not very pretty yet, and I have a long way to go, but telling some of the stories I've had in my head for so long, and bringing them to life visually, is immensely gratifying! I'm very excited to see where this hobby will take me.
